Champ d’Or Sold at Auction!

“After 433 auction inquiries and over 500 showings, Champ d’Or was sold during a March 30 auction.

“It is a remarkable achievement to have sold this estate — and particularly to have done so in a five week time span,” said Robbie Briggs, Broker and Owner of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty.

Concierge Auctions, the real estate marketing firm for the estate, will not release the purchasing price nor the name of the buyer because of a contractual agreement. They did say that the buyer is based in the Dallas area with international ties and is represented by Clay Stapp of Clay Stapp+Co.

Champ d’Or, a name inspired by the Vaux-le-Vicomte outside of Paris, cost $46 million to build.

The 48,000-square-foot mansion includes a two-story library, a hair salon and a two-story “her” closet. It also has a grand ballroom, a movie theater and a tea room modeled after New York’s Tavern on the Green.

The previous owners were Shirley and Alan Goldfield, the retired founder of cell phone wholesaler CellStar.

“It feels great to have the property sold, and we are happy to be moving on with our lives and to have found a family who will love Champ d’Or as much as we have,” said Goldfield.” – From NBCdfw.com

First quarter data from MLS shows that Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty surpassed competitors in all categories of luxury home sales throughout Park Cities and Preston Hollow.

In Preston Hollow alone, our office had an amazing three months, closing 38 units for a 111% increase over 2011 and a closed dollar volume increase of 210%.

In the Park Cities, the numbers are even more favorable. Our office closed 97 units in the first quarter of 2012 resulting in a 116% increase in units sold over 2011 and a 98% increase in closed dollar volume.
